New masonry cleaning can be performed on your brickwork immediately after the mortar joint has set-up. For best results, clean new masonry within three days of laying brick masonry units. Higgins Brick Company DOES NOT recommend cleaning brick with muriatic acid or by sandblasting. These methods can result in permanent damage to the masonry surface.
There are products on the market for remedial cleaning of older masonry. Hard water stain removers, efflorescence remedies, rust or oil removers and restorative masonry cleaning products, have all been used effectively to restore brickwork to it's original beauty. Always follow manufacturers directions carefully.
